The expanse stretched out endlessly - a pattern of repeating lights all twinkling forever away from them. The younger boy felt like magic was in his bones as he flew on his brother shoulders, there being nothing to the world but just them and the sky painted with the brilliant lights.  "Tell me again, Raffie... The lights up there, are they beings too?" The question would have sounded silly to anyone else, but not to Raffie. This conversation had happened numerous times beneath the sky. A chuckle came from the older boy, obviously amused at the topic choice once more.
"Virg." His breath was more puffed and Raffie hesitated on his words more than he ever had before.
"Each light is a star in space. Everyone else uses science to explain them or old books, codswallop. The stars, they are beings, they are what each of us turns into when we die. They feel things and have bioluminescent bodies, but from here they are just little lights that we view from down here with admiration. The ones that we love, that have departed from us, they shine brightly and clearly and leave the others dim in comparison. Like Gram, you see that twinkling bluish-white one? That's hers, she always wore that shade. See, how bright it is?" Raffie gestured to a star that was indeed in credibly bright and held the colors that Gram always wore. "To stardust we all go, someday." Raffie added with an unreadable look as his eyes lingered in the horizon.
"Okay, Raffie." Virg paused and looked at the sky and followed Raffie's look at the one star that was brighter then the rest. "I see her. It looks just like her old Sunday dress. She used to wear it every Sunday and she would bring us a pie." He chattered excitedly remembering his Gram whom had departed a couple years before. Virg looked down at Raffie with something akin to wonder and curiosity as he spoke next.
"You'll look down on me, when you take your flight into space? When you go into the stars, right?" There was a softness and a sad sort of smile now that Virg had. He wiped a tear from the corner of his eye and looked back up at the stars and wondered about Raffie being up there one day soon and how he hoped they would still take flights into the stars together, even if they were apart.
Raffie didn't have time to hide his shock, and, he stuttered over his next words. "Ye-yes. Yes, I will." He swore. He kept flying that night, knowing he had few left with Virg. Remembering even when they could no longer take flights into the stars together that they would once more when he went to stardust and watched from above.

A sad and somber sort of thing I thought when gazing at the picture. Something tragic unfolded like a flower in my mind. The scene of two brothers flying through the stars and talking of how one is going to become one.
